"I was talking to Mark from HoneypotUnlimited the other day and he mentioned that his guest for his podcast was going to be a rapper named E-Train.
My first thought was, “What the fuck, Train is in LA and didn’t even bother to see if I wanted to hang out, not even for coffee?”  But then I was like, “And he is a rapper now and neglected to mention that as well, what a guy!”
But it turns out, E-Train and AudioMuffin’s Train are two different people.  And things are about to get really confusing in the Train game because E-Train has some of the freshest hip-hop I have heard in a long time.
Mark said E-Train reminded him a bit of that new Cudi style, and I would have to agree but am also hearing a little dab of Atmosphere in his voice.  Not to say that E-Train doesn’t have a very unique delivery of his own.  I mean, when an artist is breaking out they are apt to be compared to others, but a year from now all anyone will be talking about is what a unique sound they brought to music.  This is life.
The track that initially knocked me out of my chair is Glow So Hard From Space.  I’m a sucker for slow sung hooks on hip-hop.  And there is that weird horn sound that takes over the song between chorus and verse.  The fact that this little riff gets its own break a few times in the song seems like a really brave move and sold me on it.  And as soon as the first verse drops your brain thinks for a second you’re listening to Cudi.  But you soon realize you’ve been tricked by a sing-songy rap verse.  I love me some sing-songy rap verse.
What I soon discovered with E-Train’s other songs that are floating around the internet, is that the music is all very inventive and fearless.  There is also a lot of singing, in rap style by E-Train and also on the hooks by collaborators.  In the land of hip-hop and indie rock music blending into each other, E-Train has taken another step closer to genre-less music.
E-Train is currently finishing up his debut album here in Los Angeles, titled Wrath of Roxane.  You can also hear E-Train on Mark’s podcast which is being recorded tonight and I’m not sure when he releases that stuff, but check back in a couple days and it should be there.  And here are a bunch more tunes, sorry they are only streaming.”

E-TRAIN: So Good (Ft. Molly K)

“So Good,” written and produced by hip-pop artist (did I just create a new genre?) E-TRAIN. The song features LA-based Molly K on the chorus and second verse, who helps welcome E-TRAIN back on his first release since WRATH OF ROXANE. The song will be featured on his upcoming untitled project, due September 5th (in honor of Roxane’s birthday). It’s a perfect driving-with-the-top-down summer melody and could fall nicely in a mixtape alongside “Sunday Afternoon” by Lighter Shade Of Brown, no? E-Train: Glow So Hard From Space

The fantastically talented E-TRAIN gives us another taste of his upcoming debut album, Wrath Of Roxane, scheduled to see daylight November 11, 2010. "Ladies and gents, we are proud to spotlight another positively unique artist based in Chicago, a producer/singer/songwriter with some hip hop and "Nintendo-Pop" flavor by the name ofE-TRAIN. You should definitely take the time above to grab his mixtape, or at least sample two of the standout records on it featuring abstract RMXs of songs with the likes of Lil’ Wayne, The Game, and The Beatles?! E-TRAIN shows off his ridiculous flow on the “Throw Water On ‘Em RMX”, even tossin’ in a Bill Bellamy reference, all while remaining easy to understand. And you should be immediately intrigued to see Lil’ Wayne and The Beatles on the same song as E-TRAIN meshed the 2 together brilliantly and jumps on the song himself, based on The Beatles’ classic “Help”. Both E-TRAIN’s and Wayne’s verses sound great over the RMX, which is another testament to E-TRAIN’s skills as he arranged not only that record but also the “Show Me What You Got RMX” on the mixtape that I particularly enjoy as well.
Get familiar with E-TRAIN so you can head over to Debonair THIS THURSDAY night. Inspired by his mother Roxane Malo, up-and-coming rapper/producer E-Train has already garnered radio exposure in Chicago and is currently finishing his debut album “Wrath of Roxane” in Los Angeles.
What has been most impressive throughout E-TRAIN’s career has been the speed of his evolution. He started as a front porch freestyler at the age of 18, his trademark flavor and flair already visible. By 20, he was a respected battle rapper, winning competitions in Dayton, Madison and Chicago. He followed his heat in the cipher as a self-made mixtape king and by age 21, was featured with The Clipse on DJ G-Spot’s ‘Midwest Invasion’!!
Still, how long can you rap on other people’s beats? So he taught himself to produce. Soon he was laying the track down with the same skill and ease and vision that he used to write rhymes. By 22, his single ‘DAMN’ was spun on CBS radio’s B96 (Chicago’s #1 Hit Music Station)!
